Save Space in Your Kids Bedroom with a Futon Bunk Bed
Most of you probably remember your childhood room and the limited amount of space you had to store all of your worldly possessions. The fact is that space is normally a limiting factor for most children, which is why it’s important to maximize the available space with appropriate furniture. One of the best ways to boost the space efficiency of your child’s room is by purchasing a futon bunk bed. In most rooms, the bed takes up more space than any other piece of furniture, so saving space there can really make a difference.
Futon bunk beds are similar to traditional bunk beds in that they are nothing more than one mattress stacked on top of the other. What separates the futon bunk bed from the standard version is that the bottom bunk can be converted into a couch for use during the day time. Converting the bottom bunk into a couch makes the room feel larger and also offers seated space for reading, playing an instrument or simply chatting with friends. Some futon bunk beds even feature drawers underneath for storage of clothing, toys or anything else you might want to keep hidden from view.
Futon bunk beds are available in a variety of different materials including wood and metal, and are a great way to add a bit of sophistication to a child’s or young teenager’s room. If you’re looking for an additional piece of furniture to serve as a bed/chair, you might want to consider a futon chair. Futon chairs are similar to a standard futon, but with a smaller overall footprint. A futon chair can sit two adults comfortably when folded, and one adult comfortably when spread out for use as a mattress.
As with all bunk beds, it’s important to take safety into consideration when shopping for a futon bunk bed. Apart from purchasing your futon bunk bed from a reputable furniture dealer, you also want to be sure that the bed you purchase features safety railing around the top bunk to prevent accidental falls. It’s also important to look for beds that feature a ladder for easy and safe access to the top bunk. Once you’ve purchased your bed and are ready to assemble it, be sure to follow the assembly instructions carefully to ensure that the bed is sturdy and ready for occupancy.
